DENZEL WASHINGTON------TROY'S ROLE

I have selected Denzel Washington for the role of Troy Maxon the protagonist of Fences. He is a fifty-three years old, African American man who works for the sanitation department, lifting garbage into trucks, and after awhile he becomes the garbage's truck driver. He is also a baseball star in the Negro Leagues. Strong, hard working and with his interesting stories, Troy plays the  dominant role in his family. His friendship with his fellow sanitation worker Jim Bono for over thirty years makes the his story more interesting, as well as his character and personality which are the centerpieces involved with all of the other relationships (members) that gather around in Fences. Troy's family included his wife Rose, his brother  Gabriel and father to Lyons, Cory, and Raynell. He is considered to have an excessive pride for his breadwinning role which made him seem indifferent to provide support and love to the ones he loves, and which depressed him very much until the time he died, but with a tragic hero pride that fails to develop and to support his love for his family. In short, I think Denzel Washington will do great for the role of Troy because he has the necessary characteristics to do so.
